Now Accepting Intern Applications!

October 13, 2011January 31, 2023 Josephine ButlerBlog, Raleigh PR Agency, The Clairemont TeamInternship Positions, PR Internships, Raleigh Internships10 Comments on Now Accepting Intern Applications!
While Charley has been a great intern these past few months, his skill set is very limited, and quite frankly, his grammar is ruff. Will you be the next to step up to the plate?

Clairemont Communications is now accepting applications for immediate and spring internships. Here’s some more info:

Internship Opportunity: Clairemont is currently seeking smart, responsible, creative and hard-working people who are ready to tackle any assignment and join a highly-motivated, growing team of communications professionals who share in the passion of delivering quality client service while enjoying the collaboration and co-learning of a team environment. Our internships are experience-based, designed around the three components of team, learning and career.

Abbreviated job description: Primary duties and responsibilities include conducting research on behalf of our clients, assisting with a variety of writing assignments (event calendar listings, blog entries, Facebook posts, tweets, catalog copy, news releases, media alerts, etc.), working with Clairemont team members to meet client deliverables and making media and client deliveries, as well as running errands as needed. Interns are expected to work within the confines of approved written plans of activities, represent the agency in a professional manner, participate in internal meetings, read and study traditional and online information relevant to clients and the public relations industry.

About Us: Clairemont Communications takes a tactics-agnostic approach to devising communications strategies using both traditional and social media. Clairemont leads on QUALITY — quality of service, quality of experience and quality of the deliverables. We carefully select clients who are motivated, passionate, focused and respectful. It is our promise to work as hard, if not harder, than our clients in achieving their business objectives through communications and improving the strength of their brands. For more info, check out https://clairemontcommunications.com/.

Want to apply? Send your resume, a brief cover letter (in the body of an email) and a writing sample to Cherith Mangum at c@clairemontcommunications.com.

What an Honor, Sir!

October 12, 2011January 31, 2023 Josephine ButlerBlog, Clairemont Client News, Public RelationsBriar Chapel, Clairemont Communications, Drexel Heritage, Marbles Kids Museum, Meredith College, Raleigh Public Relations Society, Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Excellence in Communications, Triangle Family Services

A few weeks ago, the Clairemont team was honored at the Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Excellence in Communication ceremony hosted by the Raleigh Public Relations Society. It was my first Raleigh Public Relations Society event, so I was particularly excited to learn more about the organization and to network with fellow communications professionals, including our office neighbors over at the Marbles Kids Museum.

All in all, it was a lovely evening spent among some of the area’s most talented PR professionals. Hats off to everyone who pitched in to make the evening a smashing success.

The Clairemont team brought home six awards (this brings our total award count to 20 for the year)! Among the awards were the following: Gold – Best in Division in the “More Bang for the Buck” Special Event/Campaign category for the Eighth Annual Triangle Family Services Gingerbread Benefit; Gold in the Total Communications/Community Relations Campaign for Organizational Identity/Promotion category for Briar Chapel; Silver  in the Publications/Brochure/Handbook/Guidebook category for our Drexel Heritage furniture collections brochures; and Silver in the Publications category for our Clairemont Communications Quickie Card.

Congratulations to the marketing and communications team over at Meredith College who we couldn’t help but notice was a big winner that night. And congratulations to all of our fellow award winners and friends. We’ll see you next year!

Green Thought Thursday: OktoberBEST and the Pepper Festival

September 29, 2011January 31, 2023 Josephine ButlerBlog, Sustainability7 Comments on Green Thought Thursday: OktoberBEST and the Pepper Festival
If you think this looks like fun, then join me at Briar Chapel’s OktoberBEST this Sunday!

It’s Green Thought Thursday, so let’s celebrate…on Sunday! No, really.

This Sunday, Briar Chapel (client) is hosting OktoberBEST, a day of fun, games and friendly competitions, immediately followed by the Fourth Annual Pittsboro Pepper Festival, celebrating lots of things green.

Be sure to stop by between 1 to 4 p.m. for OktoberBEST and challenge me to a game of Wii Bowling. The winner will reign supreme as Briar Chapel’s best armchair athlete. Video games not your thing? Join us outside for a race down the obstacle course. Who knows? You could even be named the next backyard athlete champion!

And bring the rest of the family, dogs included! I most definitely will be stopping by the Pooch Park for a chance to test out Charley’s skills in the Canine Athletics competition. Winners from each competition can win a variety of prizes, including free tickets to the Pepper Festival, starting at 4:00 in Briar Commons, Briar Chapel’s newest park.

If you’ve never been to the Pepper Festival before, you’re in for a treat. Local farmers, local food, local chefs and local music — you’ll really go loco for local. And even better, all proceeds will benefit The Abundance Foundation, a local nonprofit that seeks to educate the community on sustainability through local food and renewable energy.

So riddle me this, faithful Green Thought Thursday readers — will I see you there? I sure do hope so!

Businessweek Names Raleigh Best City

September 26, 2011January 31, 2023 Dana PhelpsBlog, Raleigh PR Agency6 Comments on Businessweek Names Raleigh Best City
Mike Davis, Lisa Gerber, Dana Hughens and Chuck Norman at the 2011 Counselors Academy Conference. (It was Western Night!)

With the Clairemont office in the heart of downtown Raleigh, we are delighted — but certainly not surprised — to learn that our city has earned the number one spot on a Best Cities list by Businessweek.com. Not only is it a wonderful place to live, it is an amazing place to work in communications and public relations. THAT is one of our favorite things about Raleigh!

We have the honor of working side-by-side with other local communications professionals from agencies, corporations, non-profit organizations and educational institutions through our active memberships in the North Carolina Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (NCPRSA) and Raleigh Public Relations Society (RPRS). Additionally, with my membership in PRSA‘s Counselors Academy, I have the pleasure of hearing comments such as, “Wow, you have tremendous industry leadership in Raleigh,” each year at the annual conference.

From local chapter leaders like Eva Hornak, Glenn Gillen, Kelly Hubbard and my PRSA chapter co-delegate Cindy Stranad (to name just a few), to my local Counselors Academy friends Karen Albritton, Chuck Norman, Roger Friedensen, Mike Davis and Mike Herman, I could describe the type of business community these PR pros represent in a word: collaborative.

Speaking of Mr. Herman, as the 2009 PRSA Gold Anvil recipient, he alone Continue reading “Businessweek Names Raleigh Best City”

Copy Cat: Johnnie, I love you back!

September 16, 2011January 31, 2023 Dana PhelpsBlog, Copy Catcopywriting, Johnnie Boden, PR6 Comments on Copy Cat: Johnnie, I love you back!

If you’ve read our other Copy Cat posts, you know that the Clairemont team loves good copy. I really like it when I find a little gem in my stack of junk mail, which is the case with this Johnnie Boden postcard.

Extra points go to the Boden copywriters for pulling off the use of the word “quiver” in this direct mail piece. Additionally, the line “What I’ve lost in muscle tone I’ve more than made up for with experience” demonstrates a keen understanding of the target audience.

“We used to be so good together…” the flipside reads. Yes, we did. And I think I need a new fall wardrobe.
