If you’ve read our other Copy Cat posts, you know that the Clairemont team loves good copy. I really like it when I find a little gem in my stack of junk mail, which is the case with this Johnnie Boden postcard.
Extra points go to the Boden copywriters for pulling off the use of the word “quiver” in this direct mail piece. Additionally, the line “What I’ve lost in muscle tone I’ve more than made up for with experience” demonstrates a keen understanding of the target audience.
“We used to be so good together…” the flipside reads. Yes, we did. And I think I need a new fall wardrobe.
Loved the Boden postcard! What a perfect message to the targeted audience. So many times the copy doesn’t nail the message or relate to the audience. I am ready to go shopping! It evoked a need and urgency!!!!! I will certainly remember Copy Cat for future copywriting needs – great messaging!
I love Boden’s copy and the clothes! Rarely look forward to sales materials in my mailbox, but Boden is an exception.
You know, really great copy has insight. It less about flogging a product and more about establishing an emotional connection. After all, people buy just about everything emotionally, whether it’s a car, a checking account, or a house.
Personally, my favorite copywriting ever was the guy who did J. Peterman’s catalog back in its heyday. Talk about something that sold the romance of the product, did that ever do it.
Yes on J. Peterman’s copy. I agree! Making the emotional connection is absolutely key … seems like that is too often overlooked when it comes to online copy and social media campaigns. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Good copy is hard to find! Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for your comment, Stan!
