Clients Leading Summer Reading

Clients Leading Summer Reading

June 27, 2017January 31, 2023 Cherith AndesBlog, Clairemont Client News, Public Relationsbook club, Raleigh PR, summer reading, Talbots, Vita Vite

Summer reading isn’t for just for kids anymore. Both national corporations and local businesses — including two Clairemont clients — have launched reading programs to foster a sense of community while encouraging adults to explore, learn and grow.

In May 2017, Talbots and Random House Publishing unveiled “Give a Book. Get a Book,” its inaugural summer reading program and the largest underground lending library in America. Customers are asked to drop off a much-loved book that has impacted their lives at their local Talbots and pick up another book someone else has loved, learned from and recommends.

Festive bookplates are also provided in store to encourage customers to write a note about why that book is a favorite before it is passed along to the next reader. And customers can come back all summer to share and pick up new books. At the end of the summer, any books remaining in stores will be donated to local organizations, allowing these novels to impact communities on a larger scale.

Vita Vite

What pairs with a summer rosé better than a summer read? Vita Vite, a wine bar and art gallery in the heart of downtown Raleigh, kicked off its monthly book club in June of 2017. Guests were invited to snag a glass of wine and enjoy tasty bites while chatting about the month’s selected novel, The Seven Sisters. Friends gathered for an evening of pinots and pages. For information on future book club dates, check out VV’s Instagram.

Interested in getting out and about more? Our clients are always launching fun and creative events, like the Wendell Falls Farmhouse Jams outdoor concert series!

Clairemont Selected for Talbots/Oprah Magazine Campaign

Clairemont Selected for Talbots/Oprah Magazine Campaign

March 2, 2017January 31, 2023 Cherith AndesBlog, Clairemont Client News, FashionDress for Success, fashion pr, O Magazine, Oprah, Raleigh PR, Raleigh PR Agency, Talbots

Polka dots, panache and pinning a new job!

This spring, Talbots teamed up with Oprah Magazine to launch a special capsule collection of clothes benefitting Dress for Success – and the fashionable couture is debuting right here in the Triangle!

Recently featured by Women’s Wear Daily as well as in the March issue of O Magazine, the Talbots line sports sunny spring colors and layered patterns designed for both leisure and workwear.

Want to help? Here are four ways you can get involved!

– Purchase a snazzy piece of the Talbots collection, and 30 percent of the proceeds benefit the Triangle Dress for Success.

– Donate gently worn work attire March 2 – 5, 2017 at any local Talbots. Or you make a monetary donation in store or online.

– Stop by the Spring Shopping Party on Saturday, March 4, 2017 to purchase your own pieces and make a donation.

Last year O Mag and Talbots launched their first capsule collection that benefitted Dress for Success. Raising $1 million and collecting more than 4,000 boxes of clothing to help more than 20,000 women, the partnership was such a success that the two teamed up again this year. Dress for Success is non-profit international organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Be sure to check out the March issue of O, The Oprah Magazine features influencers including Hilaria Baldwin (Wellness Expert & Author), Sara Haines (Journalist & Cohost of The View), Jill Martin (Today Contributor), Denée Benton (Broadway Actor), Sas Goldberg (Writer, Producer, Actor), and Katie Sturino (Founder of the 12ishstyle.com) wearing pieces from the collection.

Happy shopping!

The work Clairemont Communications conducted in partnership with Talbots earned the Award of Excellence by North Carolina Public Relations Society of America (NCPRSA). We are proud that this campaign represents one of the 190 awards we’ve received since starting Clairemont in 2010.

The Clairemont team was thrilled to work with Talbots on this wonderful project. And we may or may not have added that lovely scarf inspired by Oprah’s rose gardens to our own wardrobes!

Trends Tuesday: The Return of Lace

November 29, 2011January 31, 2023 Dana PhelpsBlog, TrendsAnne Taylor, Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Drexel Heritage, fashion, InStyle, lace, Talbots2 Comments on Trends Tuesday: The Return of Lace

Want to know the latest trends? Tune in on Trends Tuesday!

If the word lace conjures up images of your granny’s outdated tablecloth, think again! Lace is back! This is the third post in a series that is inspired by the InStyle article 5 Ways to Wake Up Your Work Wardrobe and explores how each trend is influencing fashion and furniture.

InStyle knows the trick to wearing and/or decorating with lace:  Try a touch of Lace. Because it’s a classic, lace plays quite well with conservative clothes. For best results, limit yourself to one piece per look, and choose lined items (or layer with a slip or cami) to avoid showing too much skin.

Earlier this year, I bought a lace-patterned suit at Talbots, but at the time, I didn’t even think of it as lace. Honestly, I’ve never been a big fan of traditional lace. That’s what’s so great about this trend this time around — there’s so much more variety. As much as I loved my new suit, it felt like too much for most business meetings and client events.

Mix & match.

Enter InStyle’s advice. One piece per look. The suit is lovely, but I’m getting more wear out of it by separating the pieces. I wore the skirt to furniture market in October with a dark navy background, floral blouse from Anthropologie, bare legs (since it was quite warm) and a pair of moss green leather shoes with wooden heels. Inspired by the outfit in the lower right of the InStyle page shown above, I also  bought a black turtleneck from J. Jill (a more affordable option to jmclaughlin.com) to wear with the skirt, and I plan to add black tights and black suede, strappy Mary Jane heels.

How does the lace trend work in furniture? The Drexel Heritage (client) product design team says there has been a return to things that are hand-crafted or have a hand-crafted look. I noticed visitors to the Drexel showroom touching the chair in the photograph because it looks like the over-sized doilies sewn onto the fabric, when it is actually part of the upholstery with a smooth texture. If you like this look, you can go with a little or a lot.

Lace accent pillows mixed with solid colors and leather for the "a little" look.
This Drexel Heritage chair shows the "like it a lot" look.

Tis the perfect season to add a little lace to your life. I suggest starting with a few basic pieces that can be both dressed up for a festive holiday outfit AND dressed down for office attire. This Banana Republic lace shell easily goes from day to evening, as does this black lace pencil skirt from Anne Taylor. Accessories can make a big difference. I ordered this Bohemian Lace Dress from Garnet Hill that I plan to wear with my great grandma’s crystal necklaces (because sometimes granny’s stuff is hip!) and hose and high heels to a holiday fundraiser. The following week, I’ll layer it on top of leggings, add a scarf and some pretty ankle boots and wear it to the office.

I'm planning to dress up this Garnet Hill dress for the holidays & then wear it to the office sans bling.

What do you think? Can lace live beyond old curtains and holiday outfits? Let us know how you are incorporating lace into your wardrobe and your home decor.

Copy Cat — Talbots & Our Favorite Feline

August 3, 2011January 31, 2023 Dana PhelpsBlog, Copy Catbrand makeover, copywriting, PR, Talbots

We were just talking in the office today that the Clairemont team is definitely made-up of dog lovers, but that doesn’t stop us from admiring a good cheetah print when we see one. The photo from Talbot’s August email newsletter definitely caught my eye.

And then… I read the copy and fell in love. “Call of the Styled.” What a great play on words, followed by the equally clever caption under the photo that read, “There’s a print for every personality this month. Pair them with a little black pant or fall-ready sweater, and you’ll see why cheetahs always win.”

Meow, Talbots copywriters! We like your work. The playful copy is a nod to the company’s efforts to be trendier and to reach a younger demographic while retaining existing loyal customers. My recent Talbots purchases have received the thumbs-up of our younger team members, and an intern wore the most adorable Talbots dress to our office last week.

The marketing efforts are apparently working, and we are certain the copy has something to do with it.
