Transfer Co. Food Hall’s Final Tenants

Transfer Co. Food Hall’s Final Tenants

May 3, 2019January 31, 2023 Cherith AndesBlog, Clairemont Client News, Restaurant PR + Hospitality PRfood halls, food pr, restaurant marketing, Restaurant PR, Transfer Co. Food Hall

We’re excited to work with client Transfer Co. Food Hall — and not just because we’re foodies (although the tidbits we’ve tasted are showstoppers, people). Founder Jason Queen crafted Transfer Co. Food Hall as a hub for collaboration, innovation and the transfer of knowledge — in part what inspired its name. It’s long-awaited curation of tenants features everything from fresh seafood to burritos, Asian cuisine and North Carolina’s own bagels.

And now, Transfer is rounding out its tenant list!

Transfer Co. Food Hall, an historically inspired culinary destination in downtown Raleigh, will open its doors with expanded hours on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, followed by a month of celebratory activities leading up to a late-summer grand opening. In addition to its current roster of chefs and restaurateurs, Transfer Co. Food Hall will debut its latest tenants with plans to open in full by end of summer of 2019. Tenants include Mama Crow’s, Alimentari by Left Bank, an expanded Burial Beer can shop, a ballroom/event space and a coworking hall.

“Since inception, we designed Transfer Co. to encourage tenants and guests alike to share knowledge, maximize collaboration and spark innovation,” said Jason Queen, founder, Transfer Co. Food Hall. “New tenants, new event spaces, a coworking hub and new culinary concepts are some of the final cornerstones to this downtown vision, and we can’t wait to share them with you!”

Alimentari at Left Bank

Alimentari at Left Bank stems from a creative collaboration between Josh DeCarolis, acclaimed chef of Durham’s Mothers and Sons, and Saxapahaw’s nationally renowned Left Bank Butchery. In addition to serving a farm-fresh menu of Italian specialties and fresh pasta by the pound, this collaboration will offer the only local whole-animal butchery and charcuterie shop in downtown Raleigh. All animals will be sourced from Cane Creek and Braeburn Farms, both recognized across the country for their restorative land management and heritage breeds. The menu will focus on tigelle’s – Northern Italian style small flatbreads stuffed with a variety of Left Bank Butchery’s meats and charcuterie, fresh local cheeses and vegetables. Alimentari at Left Bank plans to open in late summer of 2019.

Mama Crow’s

Drawing on their own culinary background, the partners in Transfer Co., including Jeanne and Jason Queen, join creative forces with Executive Chef David Mitchell to debut Mama Crow’s. Named after a great-grandmother, Mama Crow’s will feature a menu of fresh, locally sourced salads, fresh, top-quality burgers, house-made cheeses and hand-cut fries. Chef Mitchell will apply his rich experience from Raleigh hotspots — including Trophy Brewing, State of Beer and The Oak — to craft a locally inspired and healthy-minded haven at Transfer Co.

Burial Beer Gets Bigger!

Burial Beer in Transfer Co. will also expand its current 670 square-foot space to 2,000 square feet linking the connection between the food hall and Longleaf Swine BBQ. Behind Burial, Transfer Co. will open a rentable 3,000-square-foot ballroom/event space that is now accepting bookings. The space is designed to accommodate gatherings from a five-person luncheon to a 350-person concert — all with full catering access to the food hall and the site’s 14 distinct restaurants. The event space will also offer a rotating calendar of live music, pop-ups, artisan markets and community activities.

Ballrooms, Event Spaces and a Coworking Hub

In addition, Transfer’s final footprint includes a 50+ desk coworking hall with three levels of membership designed to encourage collaboration and innovation across all levels of startups within and outside of the food industry.

The Transfer tenant roster features top foodie masterminds from across North Carolina, touting culinary awards like Food & Wine’s Best Croissants in America and Draft Magazine’s #1 choice. Check out the complete list of mouth-watering talent!

Transfer Co. will host a series of celebratory activities through the months of May and June, including guest chef appearances, pop-ups and musical performances. To stay updated on the event schedule, follow Transfer Co. at www.instagram.com/transfercofoodhall and www.facebook.com/TransferCoFoodHall.

Spice and sweet heat. Bands and brews. Art and activities. Families and fun at every turn!

On September 23, 2018, Clairemont client Briar Chapel opened its Great Meadow park to host the 11th Annual Pepper Festival in partnership with Abundance NC. As one of the largest chef competitions in the Triangle, the Pepper Fest challenges top chefs and brewers to craft their most creative recipes using the locally bred and grown North Carolina pepper. This year’s Go Wild theme invited artisans to also showcase foraged ingredients to raise the awareness of North Carolina’s bounty.

Festivalgoers sampled a mouthwatering smorgasbord of bites and brews, from spicy mojitos to sweet pepper nut butter. The foodie roster featured culinary cornerstones ranging from Harvest 18, Saint Jacques French Cuisine and City Kitchen to Tribeca Tavern and creative food trucks. Award-winning brewers and distillers, such as Fullsteam, Mystery Brewing, TOPO, Carolina Brewing and Bull City Ciderworks, proffered a menu of zesty beverages, beers and liquor cocktails.

And this year, we crowned a new court of foodie winners!

2018 Pepper Festival Awards

  • “Feeling Spirited” – Best Spirit:  Fairgame Distillery
  • “Ale Drink to That” – Best Beer/Cider/Mea:  Honey Girl Meadery
  • “Most Loved Libation” – Best in Show Drink: HomeBucha

  • “My Sweet Heat” – Best Sweet Dish:  Big Spoon Roasters

  • “The Platinum Pepper” – Best in Show:  The Food Fairy
  • “The Staff Sweetheart” – Most Local:  Angelina’s Kitchen
  • “Best Volunteer”: Norma Yanik

Kids played the day away at Pepperpalooza, featuring bubble art, face painting and wacky storytelling. Guests jammed out to all-day bluegrass tunes from Elis Dyson and the Shambles, voted “Best Local Band,” along with ZamBamBooGee. This year’s festival welcomed a record 3,000 festivalgoers!

Best of all, the proceeds of the Pepper Fest benefit Abundance NC, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting sustainable food and fuels. We always love a good foodie festival, especially one that helps 200 local farmers who would not otherwise be in business!

What Does a PR Agency Do? A Taste of Italy at Il Palio

What Does a PR Agency Do? A Taste of Italy at Il Palio

December 27, 2017January 31, 2023 Clairemont InternAwards, Blog, Case Studiesaward winning PR, food pr, il palio, PR social media, raleigh agency, raleigh dining

Il Palio, Chapel Hill’s AAA-rated Four Diamond Italian restaurant, was in the midst of a $1 million renovation, featuring a fresh look and a revamped menu by its new chef, Teddy Diggs. Il Palio turned to Clairemont Communications to create a social media strategy that would refresh the restaurant’s image and win the hearts of young diners.

Social Media Strategy

Clairemont’s “Taste of Italy” campaign leveraged the clout of food and culinary influencers to generate awareness among the target demographic – millennial diners – and increase traffic to Il Palio. Clairemont chose to harness the broad reach of social media to efficiently and rapidly boost Il Palio’s image to a large audience.

Execution

VIP dinners at Il Palio.

Customized Experiences: Il Palio hosted a “Foodie Funday” dinner where Chef Teddy selected dishes for each blogger’s preferences. Who wouldn’t want the chef’s creation customized just for you? Chef Teddy also invited a prominent blogger into the kitchen to co-create a proprietary pizza that he named after her and featured on his menu. Chef Teddy handcrafted The Perfect Date Night Dinner for another blogger and his wife. The personalized touch struck home, producing a flurry of coverage on social media and blogs, and securing reservations.

Instagram Takeovers: To reach broader audiences, Clairemont crafted Instagram takeovers to share a visual “taste” of Teddy’s cooking. Chef Teddy helmed the Instagram of StarChefs – a culinary publication with more than 30,000 followers – during his annual trip to Italy, unveiling first his inspiration abroad and then the application back at Il Palio. In preparation for the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival, he creatively shared “a day in the life of a man who plays with fire,” with the festival’s Instagram followers, showcasing his wood-fired grill dishes. These partnerships increased visibility and boost Il Palio’s own social media metrics.

Results

Il Palio – boosted by diner reviews – earned a Gold Medal from food critics as a “2016 Best Restaurant in the Triangle.” Clairemont met every goal, exceeded expectations in addition to the following results:

  1. 10 media articles/posts, reaching a combined followership of more than 50,000 followers on Twitter alone
  2. Instagram takeovers in 2016 showcased the renovated restaurant, new menu and staff personality to approximately 45,000 followers

The work Clairemont Communications conducted in partnership with Il Palio earned a Best in Category in Social Media and an Award of Excellence in Social Media from the North Carolina Public Relations Society of America. It also earned a Platinum Award in Social Media from the Raleigh Public Relations Society. We are proud that this campaign represents two of the 175 awards we’ve received since starting Clairemont in 2010.

In the fall of 2008, 40 friends gathered in a small Pittsboro backyard to share a simple potluck and sample a fresh creation: the new North Carolina-bred pepper. This first Pepper Festival marked the start of a cultural and agricultural movement.

Since then, the Pepper Festival — hosted by client Briar Chapel — has blossomed into one of the largest chef competitions in the region, a spicy celebration of local food, music and culture that attracts more than 2,500 festivalgoers statewide.

The 10th Annual Pepper Festival represents a decade of partnerships and efforts that have championed sustainable agriculture. The proceeds of the festival benefit Abundance NC, a nonprofit dedicated to renewable food and fuels, and since inception, the festival has raised more than $150,000 to support approximately 200 farmers who would not otherwise be in business.

The 10th Annual Pepper Fest embodies a legacy — the toil, passion and creative spice of a band of visionaries. Check out the key “ingredients” that are heating up this year’s event!
