Fall Fashion: Palazzo-Palooza

Fall Fashion: Palazzo-Palooza

September 8, 2015January 31, 2023 Cherith AndesBlog, Fashion, Trends2015 fashion, clothing public relations, design trends, fall fashion, fashion pr, fashion public relations, Fashion Trends, marketing fashion, Raleigh PR

Big, blousy and bold. We’re in love with 2015 fall fashion trends—especially the next iteration of palazzo pants. Returning from the 1970s, palazzos range from light-weight, monochromatic culottes to vibrant floor-length dusters. And to our utter delight, these summer staples are staking a claim in our fall wardrobes! Solid, crisp white palazzos pair well with stilettos for an evening soiree, while their floral counterparts can be offset by chunky heels for a workday splash.

Best of all, this trend resurgence allows us to put a fresh twist on one of our favorite spring pieces. Dare to flare or flow with our top three tips to pizzazz up your palazzos this fall.

1. Opt for Tailored Tops: Pair your palazzos with a contrasting fitted top, such as a body suit or a tailored jacket. The loose pants-and-shirt combo of the summer is giving way to a more polished look that offsets flaring pants with snug tops. Bonus: This new combo boosts the dressy factor, making palazzos a staple of both work and evening wardrobes. At Clairemont, we’ve experimented with tailored jackets and fitted sleeveless blouses to accent our own palazzo favorites.

2. Pattern Yourself Perfectly: For holiday parties or upscale soirees, take a hint from CoCo Chanel’s hip-to-waist pants that often replaced a skirt in her resort-wear wardrobe. Opt for soft, winter-white palazzos with sophisticated stilettos for upscale functions. Otherwise? Don’t be afraid to sport patterns this fall! Large floral, mosaic or geometric prints pair well with solid tops and chunky statement jewelry. Bridgette Raes, style expert, lays out a few ground rules for wearing patterned palazzos, including choosing cropped tops and accentuating your waist against the flow of the pants. Take it from local fashion blogger, Whitney Blake: patterns—including palm prints—are big hits.

3. K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple, Silly): If all else fails, aim for classic, clean and straightforward. While this may seem counterintuitive with unstructured palazzos, the accessories make the outfit. Let the palazzos—whether plain or patterned—form the ensemble’s cornerstone. Simple blouses provide a mellow partner to the statement of the pant, while the “pop” of style should come from the accessory, such as a bright red pump or a sparkling ring.

What top trend are you sporting this fall?

A Fashionable Future for Technology

A Fashionable Future for Technology

July 3, 2014January 31, 2023 Cherith AndesBlog, Fashion, Social Media + Influencer EngagementFashion Trends, Social Media, social media future, wearable technology

Guest post by our fabulous intern, Stephanie Zirker!

The millennials, often dubbed the “connected generation,” may be advanced, but they aren’t the end of the line. What will society coin our next generation, the ambassadors of new products being introduced daily? Being a millennial myself, I can say that we largely owe our “connectivity” to the companies that continue to design “the next new thing,” and without these newest gadgets, we would feel as if we were missing out on cutting edge trends in communication.

Consider Apple and its exclusive iPhone-to-iPhone capabilities that encourage buyers to turn to Apple technology in order to be part of the hippest tech culture. It’s hard to imagine that technology could somehow claim a bigger role in our daily lives. But a peek into the future reveals yet a closer level of integration between humans and devices – technologies with a fashionable flare.

What to Expect

Machinery can’t get much closer to our physical person than with the growing industry of “wearable technologies.” Before long, you won’t even have to move a muscle to see your updated Facebook feed or read urgent emails. For example, Google Glass combines vision technology with the Smartphone features many consumers expect, such as the ability to surf the internet or snap a photo.

But don’t stop with function. In our connected age, the term “wearable” signifies the undeniable relation between utility and appearance, media and communications that are inescapably part of our being. Temporary tattoos that can monitor pregnancy, a cocktail ring that tells you when the phone buried in your purse is ringing, even a hoodie sweater that can send text messages—these are the products that will become innate parts of the ever-evolving definition of “being connected.” Even Clairemont has gotten in on the action — or at least close to it — by working last year with 10 for Humanity to introduce the Tiger Eye Security Sensor, jewelry that is designed to help prevent violent crimes. Thus, wearable technology will continue to blur the line between technology as a tool and tech as a fashion.

The Ripple Effect for Business

The prosperity of the market for wearable technology will, however, depend on companies’ ability to appeal to customers’ fashion interests. On the flip side, style trends will become more digital, more industrial. As developers work to find a happy union between style and practicality, the question then becomes which features take precedence during design: look or utility.

For businesses, the wearable technology trend introduces the possibility to create a visual company profile through customizable products. Imagine a Smart hoodie designed for a specific organization and supplied to customers or employees. The new employee uniform could concurrently serve as the staff member’s means of communication.

The 21st Century Legwarmer

This wave of wearable technology opens the gates for tech products to shape users’ individual images. With many producers jumping on the growing trend of fitness bands, the slickest and most chic models are among the most popular. The new market for smart jewelry that provides call alerts allows women stay connected (and cutely accessorized) throughout the day without a second thought.

Take a quick memory trip back to the ’80s, the decade with legwarmer fashion and a boombox music culture. While music boxes and the loud, brightly colored style trend are often lumped together because of a similar time frame, the two are not interrelated. That won’t be the case in 80 years. A look back from year 2101 at the fashions of the mid-21st century will no doubt feature products that marry fashion with function: technology as the 21st century legwarmer.

The Return of Blue: Trending Now

The Return of Blue: Trending Now

February 5, 2014January 31, 2023 Margot HorganBlog, Entry-Level PR Job, Fashioncolor trends, fashion, Fashion Trends, Indigo

We make it our business to keep up on all of the latest style trends, and today our intern Carly (more on this rising PR superstar coming soon!) is reporting on one of this season’s hottest – or should we say coolest – colors.

Ever since colored jeans became a hot trend, blue seems to have taken a back seat in the fashion industry. However, this season our favorite cool color tone is making a big comeback in the dramatically fashionable hue, indigo.

Fashion designer Tracy Reese says her customers are always drawn to the moody, yet beautiful, color because “it looks good on everyone.” You can pair indigo with any color palette, whether it is bold and striking or soft and dreamy. To stand out, add a bright accessory and matching heels to an indigo outfit, or add an indigo scarf atop cream-colored blouses to enhance an otherwise simple outfit.

The color trend continues in home décor this season, as well. Elle Décor flaunts tie dyed indigo patterns on wallpapers, wall coverings, throw pillows and rugs, and draws design inspiration from  the dreamy blue-accented Grecian villages along the Mediterranean Sea. Anthropologie boasts an entire line this spring called Everything Indigo in which the color is found in anything from shift dresses to accessories, including iPhone cases, dishes and vases. North Carolina-based tablewear and home decor company Vietri is also on-trend this season with its new collection, Maremisto. The assorted dishware features deep indigo hues accented with pops of color and nautical designs.

So, there’s no reason to feel blue this season as indigo pops up everywhere like budding springtime flowers. Whether it is gracing the runways of top clothing designers, accenting trendy pieces of furniture, or sprinkled in the designs of fine china, indigo is a dominating color this season. The Spring 2014 Pantone Fashion Color Report says so.

Oxblood: Add a Drop to Your Wardrobe this Fall

November 6, 2012January 31, 2023 Margot HorganBlog, Fashion, Trendsfashion, Fashion Trends, Oxblood Color Trend

Deemed the color of the season by many fashion blogs and trendsetters, Oxblood is popping up everywhere – from makeup and accessories to clothing and shoes. And everyone is talking about it, from national sources like Real Simple Magazine and The Wall Street Journal to our local newspaper, The News & Observer.

Add a splash (or a drop) of oxblood to your Fall wardrobe!

While the name might conjure up dark images, don’t shy away from this trendy new color. Oxblood is a more complex color than just burgundy, wine, maroon or merlot. It is a deep, rich, warm red with a hint of brown, purple and blue, and can be the ideal accent to any outfit this season.

Oxblood has become a popular color in the makeup market – lipsticks, eye shadows, blushes and nail polish. A little pop of oxblood through makeup can give your look a boost of sophistication. It can also be a fun alternative from the blacks and dark purples you see during cooler months.

Denim and leathers in oxblood are also big on the runway and in department stores this fall. Still skeptical? Here are a few ways you can incorporate this color into your personal style:

  • Pair it with a more neutral color like khaki, olive and tans
  • Contrast it with light neutral colors
  • Layer it with other shades of red

A little oxblood can help an outfit become the perfect fall look. And remember…a little goes a long way!
